Mixed feelings envelop me as I write this blog. While another great day was had it is our last full day in Israel.

After breakfast we split into two groups as one attended Shabbat services at a local temple while the remainder, including myself, attended services at the Kotel. While last Shabbat the men and women in our group had to pray separately in their respective areas, this Shabbat our group was able to pray together at the...Read more...

Shabbat Shalom! We made it to our 2nd Shabbat in Israel. Our group has gotten to know each other in ways we probably didn’t think were possible. We have taken in the old and the new, the archeology and the innovation.

Today was a very fun and different day. While every other day had us walking in the footsteps of our ancestors, today we spent our time...shopping! Some walked a short ways to the Tel Aviv home of David Ben...Read more...

There are two ways to describe our day in the Tel Aviv area yesterday - the day began as simple, basic and low tech and ended as very high tech! The second aspect of our day was living the value of Tikun Olam or saving the world.

After a fantastic breakfast at the Carlton Tel Aviv, our hotel which was beautifully situated on the Mediterranean Sea, we set out bright and early toward Rehovot to the fields of an organization called...Read more...

Boker Tov from Mitzpe Ramon in the Negev!  It’s Wednesday, our 5th full day in Israel.

Will it be hot? Will it be cold? Will we walk ? Will we experience ancient sites?  Will we learn?  Will we be happy?  Will we deepen our  connection to this ancient land? Will we...Read more...

Tuesday morning February 20 began at 5:30 AM for 10 of the 32 in our group who joined Rabbi Bernstein to watch the sun rise overlooking the Ramon Crater for Shacharit. The rest of us joined at 8:15 for our trip to the Ramon Crater, first to the Visitor's Center and then to journey down into the crater in land rovers ( the one I was in had 300,000 miles on it!)

The Visitor's Center is a tribute to Ilon Ramon, the first Israeli...Read more...

“You can ask me for anything, but you can’t ask me for time” -Itzik Yanai

There’s so much to say and only so much bandwidth to do it. The trip began for many at CBO, went on to JFK and 10 hours later, we landed in the Holy Land. With much fanfare and plenty of waiting on lines, we made it to the bus. We took a beautiful bus ride to our hotel for freshening up.
     We gathered...Read more...

Another amazing day in Israel. Yesterday we traveled to Masada, an ancient fortification in the southern district of Israel, situated on top of an isolated rock plateau. We took a cable car up the mountain side and were instantly transfixed by breathtaking views all around. To see ruins over two thousand years old and more excavations being uncovered were unbelievable. To pray on top of Masada, led by Rabbi Bernstein, having two congregants,...Read more...
