What do I get for my membership dues?
You get a sacred community made up of caring clergy, staff and synagogue members to support you through life’s challenges and to celebrate your blessings with you. You get a community of friends to learn with, struggle with and grow with. You will be celebrated for your accomplishments and challenged to improve yourself and your world.
What is the process for joining the Congregation Beth Ohr?
Contact our office at 516-781-3072 or email our Membership VP at membership@cbohr.org We will answer your questions about the Congregation Beth Ohr, arrange to take you on a tour and explain membership requirements. We will introduce you to Rabbi Bernstein and our Membership Committee to assist you in any way we can.
What are the costs to join Congregation Beth Ohr?
Membership costs vary depending on a number of factors. Please contact our office at 516-781-3072 or email our Membership VP at membership@cbohr.org about the specific details of membership. There are individual and family memberships available.
What if I can’t afford membership?
No one is turned away for financial reasons. Just ask to speak with a member of our Membership Committee.
Do I receive High Holy Day tickets with membership?
Yes! For regular synagogue membership, each member receives one adult ticket (children are admitted without tickets when accompanied by a parent).
Can women participate fully in all aspects of religious life?
Congregation Beth Ohr is an egalitarian synagogue. Women are encouraged to participate in all aspects of religious life including being called to the Torah and being counted for minyan.
What if I’m in an interfaith family?
Our synagogue community is welcoming of all families. We go out of our way to make sure interfaith families feel embraced, from participation in our Hebrew School to the celebration of a Bar or Bat Mitzvah. If you are committed to having a Jewish family life and want a synagogue to support that choice through education, celebration and a warm, inclusive sense of community, then you’ve come to the right place.
