    Congregation Beth Ohr Scholarship Information

 

Dear Congregant,

We want to remind you that the following scholarships are on the website under the Education tab and are available to  deserving members or children of our synagogue members whose families are in good financial standing.members or children of our synagogue members whose families are in good financial standing.  A student may apply for any or all awards for which he/she is eligible.  All require an application and essay. The same essay may be used for the Gesher, and Goldstein scholarships, or different essays may be written; the Bloomstone essay is briefer, with different parameters.  The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate his or her Jewish commitment.

Gesher Scholarship:  Any graduating high school senior who has been accepted to a college or technical training school is eligible for this award. A student may apply before he/she is accepted but the check will be paid to the order of the school that accepts him or her. Award has been $1000 to one student or a lesser amount, not necessarily split evenly between two students.

Harriet Goldstein Scholarship:  Any student up to and including the age of 18 is eligible.  The award is to be used to further the student’s knowledge, background, or interest in Jewish life.  Maximum award has been $100.

Bloomstone  Fund:  Any student planning to go to Camp Ramah, Kadima or USY is eligible. The purpose of the award is to encourage the pursuit of Jewish learning through attendance at Camp Ramah, Kadima or USY end of summer.  Past award has been $100.

Deadline will be on June 4th postmarked or date stamped or emailed to Skolnikbjc@gmail.comApplicants will be notified by mid-June.
