Every day, news of COVID-19 changes our community response. After careful consideration, we have decided to cancel all services and programs through this coming Shabbat.
Shabbat: CBO will be closed for Shabbat on March 20 and 21. Stay tuned for further updates.
Dueling Cantor’s Concert: This spectacular weekend will be rescheduled and we thank Cantors Kowitz for their flexibility. All tickets for the concert will be refunded.
Hebrew School: Hebrew School continues to remain closed. We will be in touch when a decision has been made to re-open.
Lessons: BM lessons will be conducted through online platforms. Rabbi Bernstein, Cantor Kowitz, and the office will be in touch on an individual basis.
Cleaning: We are following state guidelines for deep cleaning for houses of worship.
Food Pantry: Our pantry will close for the week ahead. We are exploring creative options for providing sustenance for those in need.
Emotional Isolation: We are aware that as people remain inside, we can begin to feel emotionally distraught. We are looking to create a system where people who want a check in can let us know, and our clergy and members of the community will reach out. Please call the office which is still operating if you would like to receive a phone call or give a phone call.
Online teachings: The local rabbis are coordinating daily online teachings. We will be using Facebook as the platform and will be livestreaming on the Merrick-Bellmore Jewish Community Council FB Page (MBJCC), which you can follow.
Here is the schedule: Monday: Rabbi Dahlia Bernstein, 3 PM Tuesday: Rabbi Ira Ebbin, TBD Wednesday: Rabbi Jack Dermer, 10 AM, Rabbi Dov Winston, TBD Thursday: Rabbi Charles Klein, Rabbi Mickey Baum, TBD
If you have an idea how we can support the community, please email Rabbi Bernstein at rabbi.bernstein@cbohr.org.
Wishing you health, safety, and calm.
