Would you like your pet to be blessed by our very own Rabbi? If the answer is yes, come to Congregation Beth Ohr on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 12:00 noon. Meet on the grass outside of the Synagogue. It will be a service to remember. Please sign your child out in the lobby between 11:40 AM and 11:50 AM.
Our first Junior Congregation was excellent. A special shout-out to Ms. Sheryl for doing a great job.
The Kindergarten and Primary Class: The students are off to an amazing start. They are beginning to learn about Shabbat. Many of their beautiful art projects and songs will be connected to Shabbat over the next several weeks.
The Pre-Aleph Class is continuing to learn the Aleph-Bet and the Brachot. It is priceless to see how excited they get when introduced to a new letter.
Aleph: Both Aleph classes are excited about learning to read Hebrew. They have both started the unit on Shabbat and will be bringing home art projects and singing songs which are related to Shabbat.
Bet: It is amazing how much the students are learning. I am very proud of the amount of Hebrew conversation which is taking place in their class. The students also learned about the crossing of the Sea of Reeds, "The Red Sea". They are starting to practice reading the words to "Shalom Aleikhem".
Gimel: The students really excited working with our Shinshin, Yoav, and enjoy asking him questions about his life in Israel. The Gimel students are focusing on their Hebrew reading and are doing well.
Dalet: The Dalet students have been very diligent in learning the Shabbat Service. They also enjoy learning from the Chumash.
Hey: The Hebrew High classes began on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 from 7:00 PM until 8:40 PM at the Merrick Jewish Centre. Many students have told me that it was a great first night.
I was there for the second night and our students were totally engaged and eager to participate in their class activities. I was very proud of them.
I am confident that Hebrew High School will be a wonderful and enriching experience.
I encourage you to attend Shabbat services in the Main Sanctuary to improve your comfort level for your own Bar or Bat Mitzvah and to strengthen your Hebrew reading.
I hope that you have all received the Hebrew School Calendar. If you have any questions or concerns about it, please contact June at SchoolAdm@cbohr.org. Please keep your eye on the Calendar, as we update it regularly.
Our next Junior Congregation is Saturday, October 27, 2018 and starts at 10:30 AM in the Muraskin Room. We hope that everyone will attend.
Shabbat Shalom
