Please note that Hebrew School is closed on Sunday, January 20, and Monday, January 21, 2019 in observance of Martin Luther King Weekend.
On Thursday, January 31, 2019, there is a Tu B'Shevat Service and Seder starting at 6:30 PM.
We have a very exciting, hectic February coming up. Here is a sample of just the first weekend:
Friday, February 1, 2019 is SuperBowl Shabbat at 6:30 PM. If you have not sent your RSVP, please consider this a reminder to do so. Please check the flyer at the bottom of this email.
Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 9:45 AM, the Hey Class will lead Shabbat Services. Please wear a white shirt and a dark bottom.
Sunday, February 3, 2019, at 8:45 AM is a Rosh Chodesh Breakfast with Rabbi Bernstein for the Aleph class in Room 8. Wear your PJ's.
Sunday, February 3, 2019, the World Wide Wrap is at 10:00 AM in the Social Hall. We invite all parents to attend. Please see that flyer below.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS A CHANGE IN PROCEDURE FOR ALL STUDENTS WHO ARRIVE MORE THAN TEN (10) MINUTES LATE TO CLASS EFFECTIVE ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 2, 2019:
Any student arriving more than ten (10) minutes late to class MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A PARENT who must sign a book located in the Hebrew School Office. This is to ensure that all of our students arrive safely in their classes.
Please note that the next Family Service is scheduled for Friday, February 1, 2019 at 6:30 PM. We encourage all of our families to attend and will give Junior Congregation credit. This is also the SuperBowl Shabbat.
Many of you have asked about sponsoring the "Kosher Kart", The sponsorships are only $36 each. Available dates are: February 27, March 6 and 13, April 3 and 17, May 1, 8, 22, 2019.
Please don't wait, as they are going quickly. If you sign up for a date, your child will have the opportunity and privilige to sell the Kosher Kart on that date. All the kids enjoy selling.
The Kindergarten and Primary Class: They are preparing for their Shabbat Service which is on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 6:00 PM, followed by a light child-friendly dinner at 6:45-ish. Please have all students wear a white shirt and a dark bottom.
The Pre-Aleph Class: They really enjoyed their Tu B'Shevat "Tasting" last Sunday, January 13, 2019.
Please note that the Pre-Aleph and Aleph Class Shabbat is scheduled for Friday, May 31, 2019.
Aleph: Both Aleph classes are almost half way through their reading book. They are doing very well. They started to learn their prayers for their Friday night service, which is scheduled for May 31, 2019. Please have the students practice reading in their Aleph-Bet Quest book.
Save the date: Sunday, February 3, 2019 for a Rosh Chodesh breakfast and discussion with Rabbi Bernstein at 8:45 AM. Come in your pajamas! See the flyer below for more information.

Bet: The students are diligently working on their Bet Siddur Ceremony, scheduled for Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 11:15 AM until 12:15 PM. Please have all students wear a white shirt and a dark bottom.
Please note that your Bet Class Shabbat Service is scheduled for Friday, May 10, 2019.
Gimel: The Gimel students are focusing on their Hebrew reading and are doing well. They have begun to focus on their Friday night prayers for their Class Shabbat.
Please note that your Gimel Class Shabbat is scheduled for Friday, April 12, 2019.
Dalet: The Dalet students have been very astute in learning the Shabbat Service. They are also focusing on the important role that Judaism has in their lives. The current "hot topic" in their class has been "Tefillot". The students have worked with Yoav on the customs and cultures of Tu B'Shevat in Israel.
Please note that your Dalet Class Shabbat is scheduled for Saturday, March 2, 2019.
Hey: A reminder: Hebrew High classes meet on Tuesdays from 7:00 PM until 8:40 PM at the Merrick Jewish Centre.
The Hey students are exploring the history of modern day Israel.
The Hey students have been working very hard learning the prayers for their Bar / Bat Mitzvah. I encourage you to attend Shabbat services in the Main Sanctuary to improve your comfort level for your child's Bar or Bat Mitzvah and to strengthen your child's Hebrew reading.
Please note that your Hey Class Shabbat is scheduled for Saturday, February 2, 2019.

Our next Junior Congregation date is Saturday, January 26, 2019. The next one is on Saturday, February 2, 2019. It always starts at 10:30 AM in the Muraskin Room. We hope that everyone will attend.
HEY STUDENTS: Please make sure that you let the Junior Congregation Leader know when you attend services in the Main Sanctuary so that you may receive credit for having attended Shabbat services.
For any student who has attended a service here at Congregation Beth Ohr and there is no scheduled Junior Congregation service, please email June (SchoolAdm@cbohr.org) with the date.
The next Board of Education meeting will be held on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 8:00 PM in the Muraskin Room.
