Dear Fantastic Parents,
I hope that you enjoyed Mother's Day and were able to spend quality time with your families.
On Friday, May 31, 2019, please gather with your friends for a Shabbat Pot Luck (Shappotluck) dinner after services. Please see the flyer below.
If you like to cook, join us on Thursday at 5:00 PM, or bring your own Kosher, Dairy dish (enough to share), on Friday evening.
This is also the evening when our Pre-Aleph and Aleph classes are participating in the service.
I am aware that you have already received your Membership Packages, which include the various Hebrew School Registration Forms, as well as Synagogue Membership Forms. It is imperative that you return the entire COMPLETED package to the synagogue as soon as possible.
Since we need a separate form for each child, if you need an additional form, we have them for you in the Hebrew School Office.
I have been asked to not process incomplete registrations for Hebrew School without a fully completed packet.
Thank you to those who have already submitted your paperwork. We would appreciate if everyone would send a $100 deposit with your completed forms to ensure your child has place in the Hebrew School next year and to allow me to appropriately staff our school.
Our Hebrew School Graduation is on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at 7:30 PM. You are all invited to celebrate the accomplishments of our Hey students as they proceed to the next phase of their Jewish Education.
Thank you to our parents for sending the items for the Lunches for the Homeless and Hungry. We will be collecting one last time, next week.
We are in need of about 30 juice boxes, 35 individual fruit cups, and 30 individual boxes of raisins. Please bring your donations to the synagogue no later than Wednesday, May 22, 2019.
We are in need of "Greeters" on Friday evenings starting one half hour before services. Please contact me as to the Friday evening date you are available, starting on Friday, May 10, 2019.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS A CHANGE IN PROCEDURE FOR ALL STUDENTS WHO ARRIVE MORE THAN TEN (10) MINUTES LATE TO CLASS EFFECTIVE ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 2, 2019:
Any student arriving more than ten (10) minutes late to class MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A PARENT who must sign a book located in the Hebrew School Office. This is to ensure that all of our students arrive safely in their classes.
Many of you have asked about sponsoring the "Kosher Kart". The sponsorships are only $36 each. Available dates are: May 22 and May 29, 2019.
If you sign up for a date, your child will have the opportunity and privilige to sell the Kosher Kart on that date. All the kids enjoy selling.
The Kindergarten and Primary Class: The students are learning about Shavuot: singing songs and creating art projects.
The Pre-Aleph Class has completed most of their Hebrew book learning the Hebrew letters and vowels.

Bet: The Bet students were FANTASTIC at their Class Shabbat Service. Their voices were beautiful and they could read all the words to the prayers. A "Tip of the Kippah" to Mr. Arkin, Rabbi Bernstein and Cantor Kowitz.

A special Todah Rabah to these students, who have been helping to assemble the donations for Lunches for the Homeless and Hungry with Ms. Ilene.
Hey: A reminder about Hebrew High, the last class day this year was Tuesday, May 7, 2019. I hope you had a enriching experience this year, and that you will continue to attend next year and continue to graduation. I would be delighted to attend your Hebrew High School Graduation.
PLEASE NOTE: Since we follow the Public School Schedules, we find that on Thursday, May 23, 2019, the Merrick-Bellmore schools are closed, therefore, there will be no Hebrew School on that date.
The Hey students are discussing relevant Jewish topics relating to the issues that face Jews of America and the world.
The Hey students have been working very hard learning the prayers for their Bar / Bat Mitzvah. I encourage you to attend Shabbat services in the Main Sanctuary to improve your comfort level for your child's Bar or Bat Mitzvah and to strengthen your child's Hebrew reading.
I hope that you have all received the Hebrew School Calendar. If you have any questions or concerns about it, please contact June at SchoolAdm@cbohr.org. Please keep your eye on the Calendar, as we update it regularly.
Our next Junior Congregation date is this Saturday, May 18, 2019, followed by June 1, 2019. It always starts at 10:30 AM in the Muraskin Room. Please keep in mind that there are only two more Junior Congregation Services until school ends. Remember that in order to become a member of the Chai Club, you must attend 18 services. We hope that everyone will attend.
HEY STUDENTS: Please make sure that you let the Junior Congregation Leader know when you attend services in the Main Sanctuary so that you may receive credit for having attended Shabbat services.
For any student who has attended a service here at Congregation Beth Ohr and there is no scheduled Junior Congregation service, please email June (SchoolAdm@cbohr.org) with the date.
As always, my door is open to embrace all your suggestions, concerns and ideas.
Shabbat Shalom
