Dear Amazing Parents,
Congratulations to our Aleph students on their Consecration which took place last Monday, October 21, 2019. Todah Rabah to our Hey students who presented Tzedakah Boxes to our Aleph students.
SHABBAT SERVICES:
On Friday, October 25, 2019 services will begin at 8:00 PM
On Friday, November 1, 2019 services will begin at 6:30 PM
Kindergarten and Primary Class: The children have spent the last two weeks learning about Simchat Torah. They have learned beautiful songs and made creative art projects. They enjoyed their Pizza-in-the-Hut last Sunday. This week they will start to learn about Shabbat.
Pre-Aleph: The students are starting to learn their Hebrew letters and they are also learning about Simchat Torah. They enjoyed their Pizza-in-the-Hut last Sunday. Last week the class was treated to a "Mystery Reader" whom they enjoyed very much. Thank you to Mrs. Meirowitch for doing a fantastic job and making your son Ryan feel proud.
Aleph: The students have started to learn their Hebrew letters, vowels and words. Congratulations on your Consecration.
Bet: The students have started their new Hebrew book and they are doing amazingly well. They have learned about the beauty and traditions of Simchat Torah. They have been working on Wednesdays with our new Art teacher, Morah Nina, and enjoy the projects.
Gimel: The students have started to work on the Friday Class Shabbat service and are reviewing the Hebrew letters and vowels. They have been focusing on Simchat Torah. The students are beginning to learn respect for the environment. Their theme is "Bal Taschit" which means, "Do not destroy or waste". They will be creating a Mitzvah project that relates to their theme.
Dalet: The students have been working on the Saturday morning class Shabbat service and have also been analyzing the Jewish calendar. The students have really enjoyed working with Ori, our new Shinshin on Sunday mornings. They learned a new game which reinforces the knowledge and usage of the Hebrew words. They have also learned how Simchat Torah is celebrated in Israel.
Hey: The students are beginning to review the Saturday morning Shabbat service. They will learn about the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict and what it means to be a Jewish adult.
Hey Hebrew High School: Our Hey students attend Hebrew High School at the Merrick Jewish Centre, 225 Fox Blvd., Merrick. They have told me that they enjoy making new Jewish friends.
They meet every Tuesday evening from 6:45 PM - 7:15 PM (special time for schmoozing & purchasing snacks). Classes begin at 7:15 PM and end at 8:35 PM each Tuesday.
For the rest of the school year, classes will meet every Tuesday except on the dates listed below:
No classes on: October 22, Nov. 5, Dec. 24, 31, Feb. 18, Apr. 14
The last class is Tuesday, May 12, 2020.
Junior Congregation is next Saturday, November 2, 2019, followed by another on November 16, 2019. It is from 10:30 AM to 12:00 noon in the Muraskin Room and led by Morah Heather. Pick-up is from the Social Hall. Please stay for Kiddush.
The class which has the most attendees will receive a Bagel Breakfast the next day.

The next Board of Ed meeting is scheduled for this Monday, October 28, 2019, at 8:00 PM in the Muraskin Room.
Next Sunday, November 3, 2019, (don't forget to change your clocks) at 12:00 noon Rabbi Bernstein will be Blessing the Animals in the grassy area at the front of the Synagogue.
