Another amazing day in Israel. Yesterday we traveled to Masada, an ancient fortification in the southern district of Israel, situated on top of an isolated rock plateau. We took a cable car up the mountain side and were instantly transfixed by breathtaking views all around. To see ruins over two thousand years old and more excavations being uncovered were unbelievable. To pray on top of Masada, led by Rabbi Bernstein, having two congregants, Carol Turoff and Howie Belgrod read from the Torah, was truly inspiring. As our tour guide Itzik said so eloquently, “there’s something to be said about singing the same prayers of your ancestors 2,000 years ago.” On a personal note, we were blessed to share in the simcha of honoring Mitchell as a bar mitzvah on top of the mountain surrounded by family and friends from CBO.
Afterwards we arrived in the Dead Sea, where we were the only living mammals afloat in it. Surrounded by loads of salt deposits, hands and feet were flying high and afloat in the Dead Sea.
Onto our next adventure!
