Now Jacob was settled in the land where his father had sojourned, the land of Canaan. Genesis 37:1
Right after this moment, we learn of the Joseph saga. Jacob favors one son, gives him a delightfully colored tunic and the rest has been song about for decades. Human beings need breaks from tumult to come up from air.
We crave times of quiet to collect ourselves. What Jacob's story reminds us is that it is necessary to find the time to breathe within the tumult. We ourselves need to carve out the time, because as we see with Jacob, right when you think things about claiming down, they are actually just getting started.
May you find peace in the back and forth. May you ignite light in the darkness.
Shabbat Shalom, happy Thanksgiving, and Chag Chanukah Sameach,
