Shabbat Blast

Dear [first_name],

This is the season of rejuvenation and change. We are feeling it with the seasons and we are feeling it with changes within our synagogue. We will welcome Cantor Rebecca Apt to our community this Shabbat and we are also integrating two communities to be one Kehillah.

You can even feel the change in the amount of Torahs we will read tomorrow. This Shabbat we will bring out 3 sifrei Torah (Torah scrolls). One is for Tazria, the weekly Torah portion, one is for Rosh Hodesh the portion we read for any new month, and one is for Hahodesh, the Shabbat before Nisan, the month of Pesach.

We read in the portion for Hahodesh- HaHodesh hazeh la’chem – this month (Nisan) is for you the beginning of months” (Ex 12:2). Nisan, the Talmud says, is the month when redemption happened in the past and when it will take place in the future.  La’chem, “for you,” R’ Zvi of Zaloshitz (Poland) said, that this means that redemption is La’chem,  in our hands, dependent on us, not on anyone else, according to the good deeds we do.

Tomorrow, we will be discussing what it means to be the seeds of our own change and how to continue working towards redemption when we undoubtedly experience struggles along the way.
