Shabbat Blast!

We’ve heard you loud and clear. You have been bombarded with Emails from us. So in an effort to reduce your email clutter, we are going to be sending out 2 emails a week.  On Mondays you will get a full listing of all of the upcoming events with an explanation, and a link to the event’s registration.  There will also be a link to the Flyer so you can print that out as you see fit.  On Fridays, you will get the usual Shabbat Blast from Rabbi Bernstein, as well as a short list of upcoming Events.  Every mailing, we will provide you with information pertinent to the next Shabbat or Yom Tov. As always, this is a work in progress, and we cannot do it without your input. Feel free to call or email the office as we will make sure your opinions are heard.

Dear  [first_name],

Blessings and curses inhabit our Torah portion, Behukotai. One such blessing is to “lie down and have no one terrify you (Leviticus 26:6).”  We will be focussing on those sleepless nights when every modern plague imaginable comes to mind. Those that happened, those that might happen. We replay the day over and over again and we obsess about the future, things we can control and things we cannot control. When we put our head down and yet sleep doesn’t come, we feel the curse of insomnia.

On Shabbat morning we will be discussing blessing of being able to sleep and not tremble at what is going on in the world. We acknowledge the reality that the world does challenge us and the essence of blessing is not that those challenges will magically disappear, but rather that we will be stronger and better able to handle them at the right time, and in the meantime sleep.

Join us for our discussion on Shabbat morning.

Shabbat shalom,

Rabbi Bernstein
