Dear [first_name],

I truly can't believe that it's June. It's a wonder that time flies as it does and the adage "this too shall pass," "gam zeh yaavor," feels very real right now. As summer approaches, the unruly nature of life seems more vibrant. Tomorrow morning, we will talk about the ways in which life sometime contains the most joyous and the most devastating moments in one utterance. The wilderness of life is both the breeding ground for pain and the birth place of joy, sometimes in one breathe.    Join us as we reflect and learn together while we begin the book of Bamidbar (Numbers or "Wilderness"). Thank you to Iris Astrof who organized the Israel Parade and all those who came out and marched in the rain this passed Sunday, including Stanley Hocchauser who kicked off the parade with the shofar blowing. It was a fun event with a great deal of pride for Congregation Beth Ohr. Please take a look at Iris and Sam Astrof's message about the parade below.   Join us Saturday night for a night of learning. Our theme- Red, White and Blue: Jews in America. We also have Shavuot services Sunday and Monday mornings.

  Shabbat shalom,
Rabbi Bernstein

One by one, they gingerly stepped off the bus, like seals taking to the ocean, into puddles and a heavy downpour. It was the Annual Israel Day Parade in Manhattan and they were there to celebrate the beloved State of Israel. The new banner was unfurled and the group made its official turn to join the Parade.  Soon they were joined by other Congregants and the group proceeded behind the banner up Fifth Avenue.  It was an auspicious occasion because rain is essential to life and Israel is essential to our spiritual belonging.  When it was our turn and   Congregation Beth Ohr was prominently announced-- along with enthusiastic cheers from observers, it sent an emotional feeling through everyone.  There will be other celebrations of the new synagogue but surely this was the official beginning; this was the public announcement that Congregation Beth Ohr was on the stage.
