Dear [first_name],

When Rabbi Bernstein told me that our new name would be Congregation Beth Ohr, my immediate response was, “or- what?”

Luckily, she laughed. 

Beth Ohr, House of Light.

Rabbi Bernstein has been sending out emails to our community Fridays, and I’ll be sharing that privilege going forward. For my first email, I wanted to send you a song that resonates with the new name for our community. I chose to record an arrangement of Zavel Zilbert’s Or Hadash:

Cause a new light to illuminate Zion,
May we all soon share a portion of its radiance.

I’m looking forward to getting to know all of you over the coming weeks and months. We’re working on setting up an email address for me, and hopefully by next week’s email I’ll be able to share that with you. In the meantime, I created a brief online survey to get an idea of some of the ways we might be able to come together to build our new community. These are just the first ideas of mine that came to mind, and I’ve left plenty of places for you to add your own ideas.
