We joyfully invite you to join us at 7:15 pm on Monday, August 29th, before the Special Congregational Meeting, to celebrate the wedding of Cantor Sarah Myerson and Ilya Shneyveys (on Thursday, August 25th). It is traditional to offer the bride and groom words of blessing, after meals, during the week following the wedding.

Come share some challah and snacks, and we will hang out, shmooze, and nosh from 7:15-7:45 pm.  At 7:45pm we will recite the Birkat Hamazon and the Sheva Brachot (the Seven Blessings). Ma'ariv will begin promptly at 8pm, and the Congregational Meeting will begin as soon as Ma'ariv ends.

General Membership Meeting 8 PM

Please attend as we have numerous items up for a vote that require congregational approval.

Dear [first_name],

Our congregation wants to wish a hearty mazal tov to Cantor Myerson and her fiance Ilya on their wedding which took place this past Thursday. Our community embraces families during life’s greatest joys and deepest sorrows. May the simchas outweigh the tsuris! As we say in the Sheva Berachot (7 blessings) underneath the chuppah.

“Kol sasson v'kol simcha

Kol chatan v'kol kallah”

“A voice of laughter and a voice of Joy

A voice of a groom and a voice of a bride.”

These voices of joy are so pertinent for our chatan and kalah. We had the great spiritual experience of davening the Ilya and Cantor Myerson last Shabbat on the grass, with their musical accompaniment. May their music continue to bring joy to the world.

Shabbat shalom,

Rabbi Bernstein

Selichot. This years topic is "Putting God Second: How to Save Religion from Itself"  This will be a first session in a series of talks on Rabbi Doniel Hartman's thought provoking ideas.

Why have the monotheistic religions failed to produce societies that live up to their ethical ideals? Rabbi Doniel Hartman answers this question by looking at his own faith and offering a way for religion to heal itself.

It will be at Congregation Beth Ohr on September 24th, 9:00 PM

Refreshments served beforehand at 8:30

Followed By Selichot Services (10:00 PM), a chance to begin asking for forgiveness in community.

Correction:  Lori and Ken Blitzer have offered to host Tashlich again. They live right on the water. We will be meeting at their home at 2625 Belmill Rd., Bellmore. BYO Bread!  After, we will reconvene at CBO for Mincha and Maariv.
