Erev Shabbat – September 30, 2016 Candle Lighting: 6:19 pm Maariv: 8:00 Shabbat, October 1, 2016 Parshat Nitzavim Nosh and Drosh 9:00am Services 9:45am Dear [first_name], While the entire Jewish world prepares for our holiest days of the year, we do so with the knowledge that we have lost an incredible Jewish leader. Shimon Peres, who held every position in Israel’s cabinet, including President for 7 years, died this past week. Our cups will be a little less full because of his passing. And we are reminded of the incredible gifts that one human being can bring to the world and also the fragility of life. May his memory be for a blessing. As our community heads into the holidays, we do so with anticipation, as this is our first High Holiday season as one large family with our new Hazzan, Cantor Myerson, leading our prayers. I am humbled by the teamwork that has gone into making these Holy Days a spiritual and logistical success. Our mission is the same even though we go into these days knowing that everyone will see new faces and the set-up will be different. Our community is warm, inviting, and supportive. Please introduce yourself to people you do not know. Let’s be patient and understanding with our very full room. We’re all working together to make this meaningful and rejuvenating. While you’re doing your holiday preparations, take a moment to check out these special videos that our leadership has prepared to get us all ready. You’re going to want to watch both (Shana Tova Message and Shul Do’s and Don’ts)! A special thank you to one of our talented teenagers, Amanda Cetina, for editing our Shana Tova message. A couple of notes on the logistics of the holidays: Parking 1. If you are able and are in reasonable walking distance to the synagogue, please consider walking. 2. The parking lot at Congregation Beth Ohr is reserved for handicapped parking. 4. You may park on the street, but please be considerate of our neighbors and do not park in people’s driveways. 5. If you do not live in walking distance, but can handle a 15 minute walk, you can park at the Connect Church which is located at 2658 Corner Ln, Bellmore, NY 11710. Here is a link for directions. Entry
Lori and Ken Blitzer have offered to host Tashlich again. They live right on the water. We will be meeting at their home at 2625 Belmill Rd., Bellmore (5:45 PM). BYO Bread! After, we will reconvene at CBO for Mincha and Maariv. I wish you health and happiness in this New Year, Rabbi Bernstein
