This Shabbat we usher in the new moon for the month of Nissan. That means it’s only two weeks until Pesah! I’m sure that, like me, you are already starting to clear out hamets from your home, thinking about which recipes to try out for this year’s Pesah sedarim, making shopping lists and inviting guests…
We hope you received your copy of the Beth Ohracle Passover edition, which can accompany and guide your Pesah preparations. Preparing the home is a lot more fun with music. Ilya and I always like to sing or listen to music when we’re cooking or cleaning, and Passover is no exception. This week, we recorded a version of the classic counting song, Ehad Mi Yodea, or Who Knows One?
This version is a mixture of Yiddish, Hebrew and Aramaic. Here’s a translation of the words to follow as you listen to the recording: CLICK HERE to listen to Mo Adabro, Mo Asapro Arranged and recorded by Ilya Shneyveys (accordion, guitar, bass, drums) and Cantor Sarah Myerson (voice)
Who can say what one means? One is God, and God is One, there is none other. Two are the tablets of the commandments, Three are the fathers, Four are the mothers, Five are the books of Torah, Six are the orders of Mishna, Seven are the days of the week, Eight are the days before circumcision, Nine are the months of pregnancy, Ten are the commandments, Eleven are the stars in Jacob’s dream, Twelve are the tribes of Israel, Thirteen are the attributes of God.
Wishing you Shabbat Shalom and Hodesh Nissan Tov, Cantor Sarah Myerson
