Yiskor—Remember and Honor
At Congregation Beth Ohr, as we remember and honor departed relatives this Yiskor season, we wish to remember and honor deceased members of our respective synagogues of origin as well—Bellmore Jewish Center, Congregation Beth El of Massapequa (Lindenhurst Hebrew Congregation), and Temple Israel of South Merrick. Since there are so many deserving of such recognition, we want to create a yearly tradition beginning this year, and continuing each year, to remember a departed member from each synagogue. Let us remember the special contributions of now deceased mentors and role models from our former congregations.
The goal is not to identify temple members in any rank order, but to just cite a person who made a lasting impression on us as a mentor or role model during our temple years. We want to create a video that will be shared with all temple members. The video will include stories, photos, tributes or anecdotes that define the essence of those so honored. All current Beth Ohr members may choose to submit an entry (see below) and to describe why their nominee should be so honored. A committee from each temple of origin will select each year’s honorees.
If you wish to nominate and so honor a now departed member of your legacy congregation, please write a paragraph or two describing the contribution the member made and how the member served as a congregation role model for you. If your nominee is selected, you will be asked to make a brief video expanding upon your recommendation. Technologically challenged? CBO staff will be available to help make the final video.

A committee comprised of past presidents from each legacy synagogue will choose the three final honorees for this year. The final video will be shown during the High Holidays.
